PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

  • Carbone took a conceptual design by Elkus Manfredi Architects and engineered a system to custom wrap three steel building support columns in a #8 mirror finish T316 stainless-steel. All three columns are tied together by radiused sections that were engineered to create sculptural lines inspired by designers Isamu Noguchi, Henry Moore, and Anish Kapoor.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:

50 Liberty Drive, in Boston’s booming Seaport Area, is one of the only new construction condominium buildings directly on the water. At approximately 280,000 square feet, with 120 condominium units, the building features a glass façade and unobstructed views of the Boston Harbor, Logan Airport, and Financial District skyline. The project designer took the opportunity to create a permanent signature sculpture at the entry corner by adding a third (non-structural) column to the two existing structural supports and joining all three of them in an organic, dynamic way.
