PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

  • Carbone designed and engineered a serving counter with round, adjustable pods that accommodate custom serving bowls with magnetic “pucks” on the bottom so they can be used with induction heaters. All the pods are at different heights and hidden under a white Corian “topography” top, which in turn partially hides the bowls.
  • Fabricated unique stainless-steel scissors shelves.
  • Fabricated stainless-steel coffee shuttles with cylinder Plexiglas tops to display the coffee beans.
  • STAGE includes custom fabricated undercounter refrigerated and heated drawers.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Dean & DeLuca’s new STAGE concept, which debuted at Design Miami in 2016, is a chef-led eatery that celebrates food as a cultural and social experience. The STAGE features a multi-layered food landscape or “topography” to uniquely display ingredients or prepared foods at different heights. The white Corian top conceals state-of-the-art technology under its delicate surface, with invisible heating and cooling units supplying the different service sections. The design team engineered separate “loops” around the counter—one slow, for made-to-order items like salads and sandwiches, and one fast, for grab-and-go pastries and coffee.
